From: [Detroit 9 hrs] - [Grand Rapids 8hrs] - [Cincinnati 11hrs] - [Toronto/London 9 hrs]
If crossing at Sault Ste. Marie, try Highway 17 North along Lake Superior to
Wawa, then east on HWY 101 to Chapleau. Your return drive on HWY 129 via Thessalon brings you back to Sault Ste. Marie and provides a change of scenery. Both routes are paved, with approximately the same travel time (3-1/2 hrs north of the Sault).
The floatplane base is easily found and has ample parking space. There, your "bush pilot" will
greet you, load
up, and ... you're off ...!
The Chapleau airport receives limited scheduled airlines. Private A/C are always welcome; fuel and tie-downs are available as well. We can arrange transport to our base, a 5 minute drive from the airport.
Airline Travelers: We suggest customs clearance at Toronto International Airport; then a connecting flight to Timmins, Ontario. From there, a rental car will be necessary. From Timmins to our seaplane-base is approx 21/2 hr drive.
Plan to spend the night before
your departure in Chapleau, gateway to the world's largest
game preserve:
