“Your Wilderness Fly-in Fishing Adventure Specialists”

A little about us

Canadian Airventures

In 1993, our family acquired the one-of-a-kind Mache-Kino Lodge (which means hunting and fishing in the indigenous Cree language), thus Canadian Airventures was founded and has been family owned and operated ever since. We are based out of Chapleau, Ontario, which we fly you from; to the Lodge and/ or remote destination of your choice in the surrounding area. We offer a wide variety of fishing, hunting and general wilderness adventure packages. The Lodge has been described as a remote luxury destination with a true ‘second-home’ feel. The surrounding cabins and our outpost camps all offer the same pristine, secluded atmosphere. Between the world-class fishing and truly unique experiences that await you, we hope you will consider vacationing with us. Simply put, we treat our guests like family and can pretty much guarantee that if you stay with us once, you will be back again. We look forward to hosting you.

Canadian Airways

In 1998, after 5 years of leasing other aircrafts to transport our guests; we purchased our DHC-2 Beaver bush-plane, which services Chapleau and the surrounding area under our commercial airline; Canadian Airways. We provide consistent transport from civilization to the remote depths of Northern Ontario. The Beaver is the safest, most efficient, and often only way to access many remote destinations. It is the airplane that is credited for helping build the North.

How to Get Here

If crossing at Sault Ste. Marie, try Highway 17 North along Lake Superior to Wawa, then east on HWY 101 to Chapleau. Your return drive on HWY 129 via Thessalon brings you back to Sault Ste. Marie and provides a change of scenery. Both routes are paved, with approximately the same travel time (3 1/2 hrs north of the Sault). The floatplane base is easily found and has ample parking space. There, your “bush pilot” will greet you, load up, and … you’re off …!

The Chapleau airport no longer receives scheduled airlines. Private A/C are always welcome; fuel and tie-downs are available as well. We can arrange transport to our base, a 5 minute drive from the airport.

Airline Travelers: We suggest customs clearance at Toronto International Airport; then a connecting flight to Timmins, Ontario. From there, a rental car/van will be necessary. From the Timmins airport to our seaplane-base is approx 2 1/2 hr drive.

Plan to spend the night before your departure in Chapleau.
